Reassessment Results Press Conference
MIC Contest Beginning / Review and Press Conference Closed Perfectly!
Initiated by Bazaar’s Charity Star and co-sponsored by Harper’s Bazaar, Stars Cluster and Dreamworks, Gangtai Group held the first MIC Contest on December 20, 2017 in Shenzhen, and held a press conference on the same day.
The international jury for the preliminary/re-evaluation has a strong lineup. Its members are Jennie Baeten, the chief planner of the competition, artist of history and fine arts, Laurent-Max De Cock, chairman of the international jury and master of international jewelry design, Veerle Van Wilder, professor of St. Lucas University College, Brussels, curator of international aesthetics exhibition, Lin Ying, jewelry industry. Expert Antonio Facchinelli, Wang Lixin, Managing Director of China, World Gold Association and so on.

The selection meeting brings together the world's heavyweight judges
MIC Contest is destined to be extraordinary
The preliminary/review of the competition lasted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Several members of the heavyweight jury from all over the world rushed to the site to attend the selection meeting. After two rounds of rigorous screening and heated discussion, the judges finally identified 53 finalists.

Emerging forces should not be underestimated
The contest lasted half a year and has received more than 1300 high-quality works from China, Britain, France, Belgium, Hungary, the United States, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, Ecuador, Georgia, Mexico, Turkey, Iran, India and the Philippines.
This year's entries include students' works from top universities in the world, such as University of the Arts London, Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Tsinghua University, as well as from well-known design institutes, independent studios, independent designers and cross-border design.
Veerle, a professor at St. Lucas University College in Brussels, was very pleased to see that the open-ended attitude of the competition to the finalists opened up the infinite possibilities of embodying the beauty of the wearer's personality. She believed that the competition would soon bring about changes.

Ms. Lin Ying, curator of the International Aesthetics Exhibition, believes that the contest's participants and judges from different backgrounds have collided with a rare spark of creativity. She also suggested that contestants should engage in multi-faceted aesthetic knowledge, be understood and welcomed globally, and truly become an attitudinal designer.

Antonio, an expert in jewelry industry, said that many interesting designs had been seen in the evaluation and that the competition had made remarkable achievements since it was held for the first time. He expects that the next competition will pay more attention to the use of mixed materials and the emotional transmission of works.

Ms. Jiang Jun, the consultant of the competition, found many good ideas in the finalists . However, there is still much room for improvement in how to interpret these ideas and how to better convey creative ideas through product practice.

Parties Witness the Historic Moment of MIC
A press conference was held immediately after the preliminary/review of the competition.
Jennie Baeten, the chief planner of the competition, Laurent-Max De Cock, the chairman of the international jury, Zhang Jianbing, Vice President of Gangtai Group Holdings, and Wu Qiang, co-sponsor of the competition, attended the conference as guests.

At the conference, Jennie, the chief planner of the competition, thought that MIC Contest, a highly creative event, was rare in China, not only an international event, but also a fashion trend vane. Everyone on the international evaluation team tries their best to put their emotions into the evaluation works, hoping that participants can step out of the comfort zone and create original, modern and emotional design.

Max, chairman of the international jury, said that he was happy to see the development of Chinese design, but more efforts were needed to make design more culturally supported and more "Chinese Style" based on the traditional superb skills of Chinese jewelry. He also expressed his thanks to the sponsors of the competition, believing that the international competition is the beginning of strengthening communication between Chinese and Western design.
